19TH HOLE

Young Guns Fire at Augusta

I'm sipping on a cold one, still trying to process the chaos that unfolded at Augusta National. The 19th Hole is buzzing, and I'm here to give you the lowdown on the Sunday Sermon. Cameron Young, aka "The Kid," is your Masters champion, and what a wild ride it was. I played Augusta National exactly once, in a member-guest in 2017 - I parred Amen Corner and bogeyed everything else, best round of my life. Young's win was no fluke. This kid's got game, and he proved it on the biggest stage. He was one of several players who made key shots in their last rounds, including Jason Day, Patrick Cantlay, Russell Henley, Ryan Gerard, and Brooks Koepka. Now, I know some of you are thinking, "Ace, what about Rory McIlroy?" Well, "Rory the Rocket" had a tough day, making a double bogey at the 11th, which pretty much killed his momentum. And let's not forget Matt Fitzpatrick, who also made a double bogey at the 11th - that hole's a killer, folks. Shane Lowry, on the other hand, had a solid day, but his bogey at the 11th was a setback.

The break on the 12th green is one of the toughest in golf, and these guys had to navigate it with precision

Amen Corner, as always, was the turning point. Young navigated it with ease, making par at the 11th, par at the 12th, and a birdie at the 13th. That's a big reason why he's wearing the green jacket. Sam Burns, aka "The Burner," had a great stretch as well, making birdies at key holes. Jason Day, aka "The Aussie Ace," also played it well, making birdies at key holes. As for the final putt, well, it was a formality. Young sank it like a pro, and the crowd went wild.

It's an incredible feeling, winning the Masters - it's a dream come true

The walk up 18 was electric, with the patrons cheering him on every step of the way. This kid's got a bright future ahead of him. Looking back, Young's been playing well all season, and his previous Masters performances have been solid. In 2023, he finished 7th at -6. And in 2022, he missed the cut, but he's clearly learned from that experience. The wind off Rae's Creek on the 12th was a factor, as always. Young's got the skills, and he proved it on Sunday. He's a deserving champion, and I'm honored to have witnessed his victory. So here's to Cameron Young, the new Masters champion. May his name be etched in the history books forever, and may he enjoy every minute of his victory. And to the rest of the field, well, there's always next year.

You can't win the Masters without making some big putts, and Young made them when it counted

The 19th Hole will be buzzing for weeks to come, and I'm already looking forward to next year's tournament. Cheers, folks.
